Tour Details

The Kaliningrad Region is a unique region of Russia. It is located on the southeastern coast of the Baltic Sea and is the westernmost region of the Russian Federation completely separated from the rest of the country by the land borders of foreign states and international sea waters.

Koenigsberg, as the city of Kaliningrad was once known, was founded by Teutonic knights in the 13th century. It became one of the cities of the Hanseatic League and was once the capital of Prussia. The philosopher Immanuel Kant spent all his life in the city and died there in 1804.

Everyone who comes to Kaliningrad immediately catches the eye of its cultural and historical uniqueness, which is especially clearly manifested in the architectural appearance of the city. And despite the fact that the architecture of Koenigsberg was seriously damaged during the Second World War, the city still has enough objects that are of undoubted interest for history lovers.

Day 2Kaliningrad

Breakfast. City tour of Kaliningrad (entrances planned: the Königsberg Cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum) with excursion to Svetlogorsk (entrance planned: the Amber Factory “Second Sun”). Kaliningrad is located on the south coast of the Baltic Sea. Since 1946, the city has become the center of Russia’s most western region. For Russians and for people around the world, Kaliningrad is known primarily as the former capital of East Prussia – Königsberg. Today Kaliningrad combines the features of modern Russian and European city. The history of Germany and Russia is closely intertwined in this city. Visitors to Kaliningrad will have an opportunity to discover its 700-year-old history.

Visite to the Königsberg Cathedral, the oldest church in Königsberg that was built between 1297-1302. As a cathedral of East Prussia, it served as a burial place for ecclesiastical and lay dignitaries. On February 28, 1804, the great German philosopher Emmanuel Kant was buried at the northeast corner of the cathedral.

Visit to the Oceanographic Museum. In the Oceanographic Museum, you will have an opportunity to see the only wharf of Russia’s historic fleet, where “Vityaz” – the largest scientific ship in the world, “B-413” – the only underwater museum of Russia, and other unique objects are moored. The whole museum of Kaliningrad includes the main building with an exhibition of surprising aquariums and many other interesting things.
