Tour Details

Right close to the border with Mongolia, is located one of the most mysterious and attractive regions of Russia – Sayan Ring. It has so much to offer to adventurous minds in search of unusual experiences. Have ever thought of spending a night in a yurt in the middle of Siberian steppes, or maybe you had a dream to meet a shaman and learn a bit of his craftsmanship. Or, you could be dreaming of visiting the cedar forests of taiga. What’s more, you will see hydroelectric station, the Buddhist monastery, the antique rock paintings that are 5 000 years old, the mysterious vertical stones, the locals and their day-to-day life in the heart of Siberia.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival to Krasnoyarsk and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Breakfast. Free time. Meeting with a guide. Sightseeing tour around the city with a visit to one of the main symbols of Krasnoyarsk – the Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel. During this tour, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the city and visit its historical part – with its monuments of 18-19th centuries, former mansions of Siberian merchants and patrons of art. You will also see a monument to the founder of the city – Andrey Dubensky, the foundation of Krasnoyarsk, the Theater Square, etc. Excursion to the Regional Museum of Local Lore one of the best museums of history and ethnography of Siberia. Lunch. Visit to the Stolby Nature Reserve. Dinner.

Day 2

Early breakfast. Transfer to Divnogorsk. We will stop at the border of Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia. Transfer to Abakan. Lunch. Tour to the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric station (outdoor). Transfer to the village Shushenskoe. Free time. Dinner. In the evening you can visit the sauna (optional).

Day 3

Breakfast. Guided tour to the state ethnographic Museum-reserve “Shushenskoye”. There you can feel the authentic atmosphere of the real Siberian village of the 19th-20th centuries. Lunch. Transfer to the Western Sayan mountains with their stunning landscapes. You will pass by the famous Ergaki Nature Park. Arrival in the Tuva Republic. Throughout most of the republic, there are almost no signs of modern civilization, the steppes are stretching for hundreds of kilometers, interrupted by mountains with sharp crests. Accommodation in a small yurt complex near the city of Kyzyl. Dinner and performance of traditional Tuvan throat singing which is called “khoomei”.

Day 4

Breakfast. City tour of Kyzyl – the capital of the Tuva Republic. Visit to the Geographical Center of Asia, the Buddhist monastery and excursion to the shaman society, where you will have a chance to learn the secrets of shamanism and even ask your own questions. Visit to the National Museum of Tuva (exposition “Scythian Gold”). Free time. Dinner with traditional Tuvan dishes and tea ceremony.

Day 5

Breakfast. We will pass from east to west of the Tuva Republic. Stop at the breathtaking mountain of Hyyrikan. Open-air picnic in a beautiful place next to the Buddhist stela. Free time. On the way, you will see the center of Buddhist culture, the restored Ustuu-Huree monastery. At the Sayan Pass, at an altitude of 2214 meters above the sea level, Khakassia begins. Accommodation in the taiga campsite “Snow Leopard” in wooden houses made of cedar with a stove heating. Dinner. Meeting with instructors of the campsite.

Day 6

Breakfast. Walking tour to the “Bridge of Love” (2 km one way, 2.5 hours). Suspension bridge passes through the high-mountain river Bolshoi On, which flows through the ancient cedar taiga. Lunch. Free time in the forest – you can enjoy gathering berries, mushrooms, and pine nuts. Dinner.

Day 7

Breakfast. Departure from the campsite “Snow Leopard”. On the way the we will make a stop near the Khakas village with the stone stela Ulug-Khurtuiakh Tas – a sacred place of worship for women, wishing to have a baby. Arrival in the yurt complex in the valley of Kyug. Accommodation. Lunch. Yurt complex is located between the mountain ranges of Altai and Sayan. Excursion to the Khakasian museum and archeological reserve “Kazanovka”. Dinner and performance of the Khakass national folklore ensemble.

Day 8

Breakfast. Continuation of the tour in the Museum-reserve “Kazanovka”. This reserve was founded 15 years ago on the initiative of the historians and archeologists. You will see rock paintings that are 3-5 thousand years old. In addition, you will learn about the mysterious vertical stones sticking out of the earth throughout the territory of Khakassia, and see real archaeological excavations. Lunch. Transfer to Abakan, the capital of Khakassia.

Sightseeing tour of Abakan and visit to the Khakas National Museum of Local Lore with a unique collection of stone sculptures. Accommodation. Dinner.

Day 9

Breakfast. Sightseeing tour to the Valley of the Tsars. There are about 30 burial mounds of the 3-4th century BC. The Great Salbyk Mound, once built over the grave of a noble family of the Tagar tribe and excavated by archaeologists in 1954-1956, will be the culmination of our trip. Lunch-picnic. Transfer to Krasnoyarsk. Dinner.

Day 10

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
