Discover the beauty of Russian Karelia on this 4-day summer journey. Visit a husky farm and enjoy a scenic trek along the Shuya River. Explore Kinerma, named Russia’s most beautiful village, with its traditional wooden houses and historic chapel. Cruise to the UNESCO-listed Kizhi Island, home to the breathtaking 22-domed Transfiguration Church — a masterpiece of wooden architecture. Marvel at the famous Kivach Waterfall and end your trip with a hands-on culinary workshop baking a traditional Karelian cake.
Arrival to Petrozavodsk. Meeting with the guide. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Breakfast. Transfer to the husky farm. Meeting with the instructor. You will receive a short informative tutorial on safety measures. Excursion to the husky farm. Afterwards you will enjoy a 3 km husky trek along the picturesque Shuya river bank in the fabulous pine forest. Visit of the ancient village of Karelia Kinerma, which in 2016 became the most beautiful village in Russia. Lunch in the traditional house with local dishes. Visit to the wooden chapel of the Virgin Mary of Smolensk. Transfer to Petrozavodsk. Accommodation.
Breakfast. Transfer to Kizhi Island by air sled. Excursion to the State open-air museum of wooden architecture “Kizhi”. – Museum-reserve – Kizhi Island. Here is located the ensemble of wooden architecture, included in the list of natural heritage sites of UNESCO. Museum-reserve “Kizhi” is conceived as a kind of model of Karelia in all the diversity of its ethnographic and historical-architectural features. The unique collection of the museum includes 87 architectural monuments representing traditional buildings of different time periods, such as the pyramidal cold Spaso-Preobrazhenskaya Church (1714), crowned with a complex system of large-scale chapters, the slender Pokrovskaya Church (1764), the ten chapters of which echo the chapters of the Transfiguration Church, giving the ensemble unity, and much, much more. Lunch. Transfer to Petrozavodsk. Accommodation.
Breakfast. Check-out. Departure to Kivach Nature Reserve. Visit to St. Peter’s Cathedral. Visit to Kivach natural reserve. The territory of the reserve is a unique natural complex, with its waterfall famous throughout Europe that bears the name Kivach. Lunch.
Transfer to Petrozavodsk.
Arrival to Petrozavodsk. Culinary workshop on baking a cake.
Transfer to the train station or airport.
