Tour Details

Kamchatka is located in the northeastern part of Russia and surrounded with the Okhotskoye Sea, the Beringovo Sea, and the Pacific Ocean. It’s famous for its volcanoes, breathtaking landscapes, picturesque views, unforgettable traveling, and unity with nature.

The main center is the city and port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Although it’s the same age as Saint-Petersburg you will get an impression that people have been living here for no more than 50 years. Until 1990 foreigners couldn’t set foot in Kamchatka and even Russians needed a special permit to come. Now it’s open to everyone.

Kamchatka is a popular place for ecotourism that is easily explained with the uniqueness of Kamchatka’s nature and resources. It offers a wide range of extreme activities: mountain climbing, rafting, heli-skiing, trekking, diving, photo safari and etc.

Don’t forget to try famous Kamchatka dishes which are usually made of local fish like salmon!

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (PKC). Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Free time.

Day 2

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer by car to PKC. City sightseeing tour. Visit to the Kamchatka Regional Museum of Local Lore, the viewing platform of PKC, the city centre, a gift shop and a market. Transfer to the sea port of PKC. A boat trip along the Avacha Bay to the Pacific Ocean and Starichkov Island. The Avacha Bay is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Its twisting coastline is cut by numerous small bays. Two spawning rivers flow into the bay. Its waters shelter 32 species of fish and seals – who are not afraid of people and let them approach rather close. You may even see a killer whale. Lunch on board. Transfer to the hotel. Free time.

Day 3

Breakfast. Transfer to the Mountain Vachkazhets (about 80 km from PKC), which is considered an extinct volcano. Trekking to the mountain crater with visit to the beautiful lake and waterfall. The mountain-mass and its environs are one of the most beautiful places on the primordial Kamchatka. The peak is divided into three main parts: Letnyaya Poperechnaya Mountain (1417 m above sea level), Vachkazhtsy Mountains (1500 m) and Vachkazhets Mountain itself. In the area of Letnyaya Poperechnaya, there are still two large volcanic craters that are probably the remains of the crater of the ancient large volcano. Lunch (picnic). Return to the hotel. Free time.

NOTE! Due to road and weather conditions the total time for trekking can be enlarged. According to group physical preparation and personal abilities the guide has the right to decide to shorten or (and) to change the route on spot.

Day 4

Breakfast. Transfer to the Bystraya river (about 2 hours). Lunch in a tent camp. River floating with “catch-and-release” fishing (2.5 – 3 hours). The Bystraya river, the second longest river in Kamchatka, flows along the southern slopes of the Sredinniy Ridge (Middle Ridge). It plays an important role in the reproduction of Pacific salmon. Experienced guides and inflatable rafts are at your disposal. Transfer to the Malkinskiye hot thermal springs, where you can bathe. The Malkinskiye springs are situated in the valley of the Bystraya river, at a great thermal territory of underground natural springs. This is a great place for bathing and rest in the fresh air. Free time.

Day 5

Breakfast. Transfer to the foothill of the Avachinsky volcano by an all-terrain vehicle (about 2 hours). The Avachinsky volcano (2751 m) is one of the most active volcanoes in Kamchatka. The Kamchadals often call it the “Home Volcano”. Its crater is filled with hardened lava and hidden in rising clouds of fumaroles. The Camel mountain is situated between two volcanoes, Koryaksky and Avachinsky; Its height is about 1200 meters. Trekking to the mountain takes about 3 hours and is not very difficult. On the top of the mountain, you will have a chance to admire beautiful views of the Avacha Bay and the surroundings of Petropavlovsk and Elizovo, the Avacha river and the Nalychevo valley. Lunch. Then we will go to the Pacific coast and walk along the black sandy beach of volcanic origin. The Khalaktyrsky Beach is a popular place among the citizens of Petropavlovsk. The long coastal line is covered with volcanic sand and, during summertime, is full of blossoming flowers and bushes. Transfer to the hotel. Free time.
