The second largest city in Russia has more to offer than just the Hermitage Museum and the Mariinsky Theater. It is one of the biggest cultural centers in the world, a city with an exceptionally rich history, traditions and a promising future.
Almost all basic trends in the world and Russian architecture of the 18th-20th centuries are found in Saint Petersburg. The city has played a vital role in both Russian and European history. Founded by Peter the Great in 1703, it was the capital of the Russian Empire for two centuries.
The city is usually called « the Venice of the North » or « Russia’s Window on the West ». Having quite a rich history, today it is a large industrial, transport, scientific and cultural centre of Russia with a population of 5 million people.
Saint Petersburg is one of the largest centers of world tourism. It is ranked alongside Paris and Rome as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

City sightseeing tour, during which you will admire the splendid views of St.Petersburg: the Arts Square, surrounded by 3 museums and 4 theatres; the Palace Square offering an impressive view of the Baroque Winter Palace; the historical “Strelka” (Cape) of the Vasilyevsky Island; the famous Nevsky Avenue considered the “heart” of the city. You will no doubt be fascinated by the quiet wide rivers and the canals system, by the beautiful bridges, by the majestic domes of Orthodox churches and cathedrals and many more. We will also visit the Peter and Paul Fortress. Peter the Great had the construction of his new capital started with this fortress on May 27th, 1703, and this day is actually considered the birth of St. Petersburg. Lunch. Free time.
Breakfast. Morning starts with a visit to the Hermitage museum, Russia’s best gallery of world art, one of the most prominent art museums in the world and defi nitely the main tourist attraction of St. Petersburg. The principal building of the Hermitage Museum is the Winter Palace, the residence of the Russian Czars, magnifi cently located on the bank of the Neva River. The museum was founded in 1764, when Catherine the Great purchased a collection of 255 paintings from the German city of Berlin. Today, the Hermitage boasts over 2.7 million exhibits and displays a diverse range of art and artifacts from all over the world and from throughout history. The Hermitage collection includes works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian, a unique collection of Rembrandts and Rubens. Lunch. Free time.
